Is the 4 speed M17 Muncie part number the 4T40E?

no thats an auto trans. you need the 4 speed manual. they do allegedly fit from a 4t60 psrt number for a known axle seal is from autozone: 3543[This message has been edited by cartercarbaficionado (edited 03-13-2025).]

Those were popular some time ago, but many people had problems getting them to seal properly.
They really don't do much to beef up anything, are a pain to install and once they are installed, you will not be able to get regular axle seals to work again.
My vote is to save your money and don't give yourself a headache.
