So if I'm lowering my car (88 with both sway bars) and I don't want it sitting too low but still maybe drop an inch so I simply cut 1 inch of all four coils? ------------------ Joshua Seeger

FYI - Stock '88 sits little higher in the front than the rear.
If you want to level the car; perhaps only lower the front and look at Rodney Dickman's Lowering Front Ball Joints than cutting spring coils....: https://rodneydickman.com/p....php?products_id=158------------------ Original Owner of a Silver '88 GT Under 'Production Refurbishment' @ 136k Miles

When you cut springs, the measurement tool is how much coil you cut. If you cut 1 full coil off it will probably drop the car a little more than an inch. I would suggest only cutting a half a coil to start with.

i found a weird thing where somebody did that to a 87 gt. now sure why you would lower the back by an inch with a stiffer spring though..

i wouldnt cut the springs. use the lowering balljoints or a set of lowering springs. you dont wanna cut these since the spring rates arent gonna be right. also you measure with half coils not inches when cutting

If you don't want the suspension bottoming out with a lowered car, it only makes sense to use stiffer springs.

With no lowering ball joints in the front? Why would anyone do that? Makes no sense to lower the back but not the front.

Well I've got a set of extra front springs and it's the cheapest route. But I do want the car to sit level. So maybe would I just cut one coil off the front and half a coil on the back? Or should I leave the rear alone.

Do the front first; then decide if the rear needs to be lowered or not...
