So i am fairly new to working on fieros. my grandpa gave me his old 88 GT to work on after it had been sitting since i was born ( around 17 years). The main problem in the pistons corroded and the engine is seized.
Currently i have the engine out and have an 87 engine to swap into it. I am going to keep the transmition and everything else from the 88 GT but the engine.
So over all i am serching for some advice on
1. Where to find parts ex: clutch , electrical sensors , gaskets.
2. If I should keep my 88 flywheel for the 88 manula trans, or should i keep the 87 fly wheel for the 88 trans.
3. Any tips or trick that have helped you out along the way.
i would appreciate any and all advice so thank you if you respond!!

The Fiero Store has many parts and specialises in Fieros. Summit Racing and Rock Auto are also good sources. You can also find parts at NAPA, O’Reilly, Advance Auto, Pep Boys, etc.
Patrick, you may want to jump in and share where you find / source parts in Canada.

. The flywheel is determined in this case by the engine. Use the '87 flywheel with the '87 engine. ('88 flywheels are neutrally balanced for the '88 engines.)
In regards to purchasing most non Fiero-specific engine parts, RockAuto usually has the best prices, and their shipping fee to Canada is quite fair. However, with this bullshit tariff on again/off again currently taking place, we won't know for sure how this may or may not affect prices of parts being brought across the border.[This message has been edited by Patrick (edited 03-07-2025).]

Fiero store is Fiero specific, hard to find elsewhere parts, rock auto is common gm parts for a very good price, parts Avatar isn't as good as rock auto, some things may have better prices than rock auto, but generally similar with less selection, I'm also Canadian, check out Rodney Dickman, get everything you can from him, everything he has that you need or think you might need, his parts are good and he's going out of business sooner rather than later.
Welcome to the Fiero world![This message has been edited by 1985 Fiero GT (edited 03-07-2025).]

Rockauto and Summit Racing are problem-free. I recommend them.
Rockauto for normal auto parts, Summit Racing for aftermarket performance parts.
For heavy parts (expensive shipping) such as brake rotors, calipers, flywheels, etc, local brick-and-mortar stores may be competitive with Rockauto, but not very often.
Paints and chemical products are hard to ship; these are best purchased locally.
With Fiero Store and Rodney Dickman you may get the occasional brokerage charge, but as Fiero-specific vendors, sometimes you may want something from them.
Sometimes you can trade with other Fiero enthusiasts near you; make friends!
I suggest you make lists to plan your parts ordering, to only pay for shipping once. If you do not plan correctly and order parts as you realize you need them, then you may wind up paying for shipping many times over.

One method of obtaining “good, used parts” is going to local junkyards and also (if there is a Craigslist or something similar in Canada) checking all areas of Canada for Fiero stuff and seeing if they will ship to you. I will assume you avoid any/all tariff / brokerage fees by staying inside your country. I do this all the time. Yes, I know that many won’t want to ship but some will do it and accept PayPal. Kit

Since you're in Alberta, on Facebook there is Calgary Fieros, Edmonton Fieros, and Alberta Fieros. Everyone in there is good to deal with.
