I just pulled the engine in my basket case fiero. It has been sitting for an unknown amount of time. The engine has no compression so I pulled it but I want to test the fuel pump while the engine is out. How do I do that? I assume theres a way to just run 12v to the pump through the wiring harness but I have zero clue which wire. Any help would be appreciated. Its an 86 V6 4 speed.

Apply 12v DC to the tan/white wire and ground the black wire on the fuel tank pigtail.

And the fuel pump pigtail would be where? Is it the wire plug with three wires in the middle of the engine bay by the firewall with the PEE sticker on it?

Or simply run 12v to the appropriate ALDL terminal (beside the cigarette lighter, behind the plastic cover).

You can test a fuel pump by energizing it momentarily. If it goes on it may be good but then shut it off, If you run it dry it will destroy its functionality. If the fuel pump is still in the tank you can add 1 gallon of gasoline put a rubber hose on the gas feed line and into a bucket Then energize the pump from the ALDL connector and look to see that some fuel is in the bucket. Make sure that there are no flames, excessive heat or sparks in the area. If the pump is the original one, replacing it is probably a good idea. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. That was it. Weird it literally has a sticker that says "PEE" on it. I hooked it to a battery and ran it and got about half a gallon of not the worst gasoline I have seen in about 10 seconds. No chunks, clear, was just darker than I am happy with with. It started to gurgle a bit so I shut it off. Pretty sure the tank is bone dry at the point but it works and is flowing enough fuel for me to not worry about dropping the tank.

My personal opinion, if you don't know the condition of the fuel pump, or it's never been changed since you owned it... I'd recommend changing it. Fuel pumps are cheap, and with all that stuff already out of the car, it is NOT a hard job at all. Plus, you should replace all the rubber lines anyway. Trust me... it's worth it.
If my (then) 15 year old daughter could do it, you can too!!!
