The specs are kind of interesting, but it has flat tappets. 88 (down to 85-86) Dukes have roller tappets. I'm not sure they are compatible. (To be fair, I'm not sure that they're not, either.)

I can't imagine it would make too much of a difference? Knowing GM they probably left the cam the exact same in between the model years.

I can confirm that you CAN in fact swap in a flat-tappet cam into a LATER / NEWER Iron Duke (85-86)... you just can't go in reverse.
The only thing you need to do though, is also replace the pushrods (as I believe they are a different length) and you eliminate all the roller-hardware (brackets, etc).
Not sure about 87-88 though... because remember, you have a cam position sensor in lieu of the distributor, and for the 88, a bunch of other stuff going on. I doubt that cam has that on it (I didn't see). But I see no issue at all using a flat tappet in an 85-86 engine. The S-10 people do that all the time.

Good info! I didn't know that. I'd be surprised if the 87-88 used a cam position sensor. I know there's a crank position sensor, that connects directly to the DIS brick. But that system is "wasted spark", and there's still only a single TBI. AFAIK, the only system that uses a cam sensor is sequential FI.

You might be right. In the general vicinity of where the old distributor would go, there's a smaller hole where a "sensor" goes into, I just assumed it went to the cam...
