Really Need Help! (Page 1/1)

After years of searching, I finally found a blue 87 GT. The problem is that the car sat for 2 years. I put a battery in it and everything worked: lights, radio, power windows, locks, EXCEPT the ignition.

I have cleaned all the contacts and grounds, replaced the starter, battery cables, neutral safety switch, the fusible link ignition module, and the ignition switch on the column. Same result: car will not turn over. I jumped the starter with a momentary switch, and it turns over.

About ready to tear out my hair and set the car on fire.

Any thoughts, suggestions, advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

If it is a manual gear box; check the clutch start switch circuit
{Ignition switch yellow wire to clutch start switch to starter solenoid}

*If the yellow ignition switch wire has 12V; check for 12V before and after the clutch start switch and then at the C500 connector

*If the yellow ignition switch wire doesn't have 12V; check the ignition switch path

If it is an automatic; check the C500 connector first which is before the transaxle position switch

get a multimeter and check the wire going to the solendoid for power. it might be broken or need a new solenoid on the starter (i burnt my fusible link so replaced it with a fuse holder that was longer)
