Installing a rear swaybar (Page 1/2)

Hey guys. I'm wondering if anyone has measurements for where I need to drill the mounting holes on my 1988 2.5. It didn't come with one from factory but I'm assuming it's pretty easy to install.

Are you installing an 88 rear bar?

If so, look on the front side of the back rear cradle mounting horns, there should be to holes on each horn. That's where the rear sway bar bushings attach.

If you're mounting a pre-88 front bar.......drive carefully until your used to the different balance of the car.

I am installing an 88 rear bar but It didn't come with one from factory. So would it still have the mounting holes?

Here is a pic of where those holes should be located (Note; I modified (Lowered) mine to improve turn-in but eliminate Snap-oversteer)

I believe the rear sway bar was an GM option plug-and-play "option"; as all '88 frame cradles are the same meaning, no drilling.....

The bar was not an option, it came OEM on Formula and GT, not available on Duke coupes.
Only 3 models in 88.

So, not available on Duke coupes means no rear sway bar HOLES in the frame cradle?

Every 88 rear cradle is drilled for the rear sway bar.

Thank you fieroguru; I 'thought' all '88 frames cradles are the same meaning, no drilling.....

SO LS4FieroGuy; the rear sway bar on a '88 is a 'plug-and-play' "option" {not a GM option} without drilling.

Get the bar, cradle hardware and the brackets like the eBay listing - https://www.ebay.com/itm/167271057013?

Get standard End Links or Zero Lash End Links - https://rodneydickman.com/p...o.php?products_id=97

Since you will disassemble at the struts to add the brackets; I suggest getting Camber Adjustment Bolts, I brought TRW 13209A - https://www.ebay.com/itm/183354731856

While every 88 rear cradle has the holes for the rear sway bar, all 88 cradles are not the same.

There are 2 styles of 88 rear cradles:
1. Used on all manuals and V6 autos.
2. Used on the 4cyl autos - these have an extra transmission mount bracket welded to the cradle for the mono-transmission mount setup.

Here is a picture of the extra mount on the 4cyl/auto 88 cradle:
