Vacuum leak? (Page 1/1)

Hello my idle tends to bounce between 800 and 1,000 at idle would that be caused by a vacuum leak?

we need a little more info .what engine, hot or on startup . could be a vacuum leak or bad injector or even a bad sparkplug or other ignition problem. Give us a little more inf o and maybe we can get you going in the right direction.

It's a 2.8 and it's bad at idle but still is a bit rough warmed up

I would check for vacuum leak but it sounds to me you may just need an ignition tune up and fuel filter to start. My advice is to do the simple basics first. .is your check engine light on? If so get a code reader and check for codes. If no code do a basic tune up.. Don't just start replacing sensors and expensive parts guessing what is wrong.

Yeah, it sounds like you have the "hunting idle" problem. Fieros were NOT like this when new, to be sure... but sometimes it feels like they were.

It's usually a dirty Idle Air Control passage, where the IAC pintle bounces off the back of the opening (because it's coated with EGR carbon), but sometimes it isn't. It can be exaggerated by dozens of other issues, such as other failing sensors.

Todd I think its more likely just a normal tuneup issue as it still is rough running when running off idle. He doesn't say what servicing has been done previously. I wouldn't touch the throttle body until all other basics have been checked.
