wiring swap merging help (Page 1/1)

Guys, is there someone who has the ability to take the OEM fiero engine bay and merge it with a donor engine? I'm looking pretty hard at a 88 fiero with a Iron Puke and 5 spd, and looking at Lnf drivetrain donors on ebay.

the Wiring is pretty simple, its the PCM that needs all the wizardry.

Any swap would require keeping all of the wiring for the necessary gauges, lighting and accessories intact and just adding the wiring for the new LNF sensors , injectors, etc to the PCM. IMO, the LNF engine is a good swap choice but you must buy the FWD version. If you have confidence in doing the metalwork, hose rerouting for mounting this swap and just need a wiring harness Joe Welsh (olejoedad) does excellent neat work and can probably help you. You just send off the LNF harness and Fiero harnesses to Joe and he will return a plug and play swap harness. You will also need the LNF PCM and it must be reprogrammed to work in a Fiero.

I don't know anyone in the DC Metro Area, but there are a few people here in Central Florida that know how to do that. The EcoTec would be an awesome swap, honestly. You'd get immense modern power, with the lightweight aspect of the Fiero. It would be an awesome combination. I'd recommend you keep the transmission mated to the LNF as well... (usually a 5 or 6 speed). The Isuzu 5-Speed from the 88 won't really handle the power of the EcoTec motor, especially if it's a turboed one. It'll last a few days and tear itself apart. You can recoup a decent amount too if you put it up on eBay... they're getting harder to find, especially for the Fiero.

Where in DC do you live? I used to live in Woodley Park many years ago, in the Wardman Towers right by the Woodley Park Zoo subway stop. It was a Sheraton Hotel at the time, but my dad was the General Manager so we lived in the hotel... definitely miss living a few stops from M Street and the Smithsonian.
