Brace-Transaxle Part - For 1987 2.5 Iron Duke? (Page 1/1)

So… I am finally close to solving the mystery of this part. GM-22653988 is the part number and it’s a Brace Transaxle (Lower mount).
I can’t find any information tied to a Fiero. I need help finding out where exactly this is placed on this 1987 Fiero SE 5 Speed Manual Engine /Transmission ?
Thanks for your input.

That's interesting, and explains why I don't know about it either.

I took a 1985 Fiero 2m4, and upgraded the 85 engine with 87 parts... but if that attaches to the transmission, it would explain why I never got that (I got an 88 engine to pull all my parts off). I'll try to check the parts manual (which is in the garage) later today.

Hello 82-T/A

I too was surprised about this part. I have spent hours researching the part number and I am not finding anything, not even on diagrams that the nearby Chevrolet parts dealer provided for the Fiero Iron Duke & Isuzu 5 Speed gearbox. Thank you for looking as well.

Ok, I couldn't find anything Fiero related... but apparently, it's used commonly with the 3.4 liter GM motor in the early 2000s cars.

See this for example: https://www.gmpartsdirect.c...ine--engine-mounting

Same part number, etc... shows it being used for a 2005 Chevy Malibu.

When I look this up for a Fiero, it states that it does NOT fit Fieros.

I'm wondering if it just got thrown in with the other brackets, but it does not appear to belong to your car.

Thanks for this information! This part & that engine lift ring as I mentioned before were in the box of parts returned with the rebuild motor. You are right about them accidentally thrown in with the rest. Now I can disregard those unknown parts and finish the restore. Happy Holidays 82-T/A & again Thanks!

I'm a bit late to the party, but I've never seen a bracket that looked like that on any Fiero.
Nor a picture of it on any Fiero forum or page.
