One last part to identify (Page 1/1)

Hello All,

I thank you all for your help recently identifying parts for my Iron Duke engine in my 87 se manual. There is one more remaining part in the image that I can’t seem to identify for placement that remains to be installed. Thank you again for your help.

Note: I wanted to clarify this other part. Just to be sure, was this part below made to protect the battery wire in the event of a belt incident? I am just not sure where it’s mounted. Thanks for your input.

the bottom picture goes from the back of the alternator to the intake manifold.

As he said above, the second image is an alternator bracket. But I'm still confused by your configuration, because that bracket is only used on 87-88 Fieros where the Serpentine belt and the belt tensioner is being used. It seemed from what I could tell, all of your pulleys were for a V-belt, and it looked like you had the tensioner removed.

The other bracket goes somewhere on the FORWARD side of the motor (where the exhaust manifold is). It mounts somewhere near the waterpump, and it's used as a conduit for the wiring harness (positive cable) and some other things to go through. I have an 85, and we converted it over to 87-88 stuff (it came with the 87-88), and I could never figure out really how it installed... haha... and there seemed absolutely no purpose for it since I didn't end up routing the wiring harness the same way.

Thank you guys for your help. You are right 82 TA about the belt arrangement. It’s really unusual and I believe that was the reason why the engine overheated and The block cracked. Well, it’s in the final process with some friends and we will have the belt tensioner on it this go around I’ll keep you all posted. Thank you for the identification of those two pieces, gentlemen
