Hi all- I went to my local junkyard a couple months ago and pulled a series 2 3800SC from an '03 Regal. Now, a buddy of mine is constantly ragging on Fieros, and I want to shut him up for good- (and also, everyone loves lots of power in a small car) So I've set out on a mission to make 600HP from my engine. I found this article to use as a base for my build. Have any of you built an engine similar to this/have any tips and tricks?

And the transmission will be what? That's the hurdle with any engine swap. not the engine power.

I read the article but I'm confused by the "N/A" dyno of 267/247 when what's pictured is a SC motor.
I have a Series 3 N/A motor I've been meaning to rebuild as a replacement for my now dead 4.9...
I was looking for some basic upgrades for that but I seems hard to come by as everyone just goes the S/C or turbo route. I've found this but it seems Series 2 oriented: https://zzperformance.com/b...aspirated-top-5-mods
I'd love to have a N/A 3800 that makes more hp than my 4.9 did while only giving up 50 ft*lbs at most. For reference, my 4.9 made 196 rwhp and 298 ft*lbs on E85. I believe it could have made 5-10 more but my tuner tends to tune rich by my standards.
Best of luck on your build!

The 3800 SC engine is quite strong in stock form and would swap cams and turbo it and use the $$$ saved on transmission work.
If I was an automatic guy and looking to build a stout 3800 Turbo, I would follow this thread: https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/145844.html

A guy ragging on a 3800 Fiero? Point him to this video where Scott ran a 9.87 1/4 mile at 142mph with his 3800. That guy has nerves of steel. Ultra Fast Fiero

I run a 400HP+ 3800 turbo setup running through a 5-speed Getrag (Yes. Getrag. You heard right. It hasn't blown yet!) I eat Porsches and hi-power BMWs for breakfast! Never had a Skyline line up against me. Maybe they're scared?
Ask away, I'll try to answer.
One thing I'd suggest is to reinforce the front cross member of the cradle. I cracked mine.

What are you considering for the transmission?

This is what I'm going for- There is a guy in my hometown with an LS swapped Fiero, he has a 6 speed manual- I'm trying to track him down and figure out how he did it. Manual is a must. 600HP is the ultimate goal, but really anything other than the stock 75 would be great. More realistically, I want to hit 400- I'll dm you
