radiator hoses (and issues) (Page 1/2)

been having a consistent issue now with the hoses at the engine loosening their clamps or otherwise popping Off or turning into a balloon
my rear dogbone was bad but I fixed it and re tightened all the clamps (they all took 5 turns or more) and 20 miles later I see my gauge climb and the rear window fogs up right before it dumps the whole system on the ground I did at least learn this time to not put any coolant in it unless its cold or stays in there more than a week

fixed dogbone with a 84 iron duke dogbone I stole bushings out of and put in my v6 dogbone for the 88 and I think it was very bad.
also painted some stuff since it refuses to overheat again and I kinda don't want to find out what the timing is since it might have been overheating because of aggressive timing before. also it isn't super fast but fun but used to be faster and much more fun but for now this works, pic of ballooned hose was from last year and was fixed and has stayed fixed

Should I assume that you know what kind of damage can be done to an engine when the timing is way off?

yeah I'm aware. this would be the 5th time I've set the timing since I've had to do distributor work or heads quite a few times now, it's not far enough to cause any issues other than it likes popping out the exhaust on decel so it's close

Leaking or cracked exhaust manifolds will also cause that.

then I'm not sure, my fuel economy is quite bad 15 mpg on highway so it's probably off but it threw a code and I didn't get a chance to check it due to my wiring issue but only happens when cruising for a long while, also figured out my entire subframe shifts back and forth under acceleration so I gotta fix that next

Dude, you need to get that car off the road and fixed so that it's not a hazard to the rest of the drivers on the road.

dude it is. remember I bought it and have put less than 1k miles on this formula and alot of these issues have just been happening as the previous owners...fixes... have been failing. I'm fixing everything I can and finding more and more issues to resolve them. like how the radiator fan just doesn't pull air through the radiator anymore, why I dunno? just learned that once I parked it from yesterday and let it idle to cool off a bit. the bushings will be here soon and every bit of rubber or polyurethane is getting replaced with new stuff if I can find it otherwise it's getting made like the rubber strips that are supposed to seal my radiator shroud

if you wanna see something real scary he did was to repair the dogbone mount with I'm assuming is rtv to make it better, or that the mounts weren't bolted on at all. or that the entire front suspension was straight up held on by one bolt. all of which have been fixed. it's a project that I have to make right and safe but first is finding and making the kids of stuff to order and I'm pretty sure I'm done making the list for the things that are clearly an issue and have to be addressed before anything else

The rear cradle on an 88 is solid mounted, if it's shifting it sounds like the rear vertical bolts are loose and the front horizontal bolts may be undersized.....
