Well they must have used a different paint, the first picture is the early style gauges, which I never see faded, 85mph speedo, integrated oil, edgelit, etc. second picture is the 120mph with the really gauges, backlit, auto reset to zero, etc. I always see those faded yellow. I know about the Canadian gauges, I live in Canada haha, I have the 85mph speedo with only km/h, no mph markings at all, 140 km/h! My dad's is the later model, 120mph, with both miles and kms

Hahah! I completely forgot that you were from Canada, haha... sorry!

Metric system... SO EXOTIC!!! Hahah...

Yeah, made it interesting going to the 40th, and gassing up in the states, having only km/h on my speedo, a lot of calculating in my head!

Would you mind sharing who you're sending your gauges to, in order to be repaired?

Hey Jack, do you have a page or some things that talks about the services you do for gauge / cluster repair?
Thanks!

I do not have a web page on this, but there are a lot of members I have provided the service. It started out converting tachs for members that did engine swaps and also tachs that got out of calibration. Then into restoring the needles on the backlit gauges. I also can check the calibration on the fuel & temp gauges. I also provide a calibration sheet on the gauges as received and the after calibration. I would post some pictures but working from a Mac the posting pictures app does not work. I hope this helps.

Ok, I'm very interested. Would you mind sharing your prices? If not, can you PM me? I'd like to have this done for both my car, and my daughter's.

Thank you!

Hello All,

I sent my gauges to: Instrument Services, Inc., 4075 Steele Dr., Machesney Park, IL 61115. PH: 815-316-2921. Web site: clocksandgauges.com.

They were recommended to me by my ex-son-in-law, who is a master clock maker. The first instruments I sent to them were a clock and tachometer out of a 1966 Corvair. The items came back looking good and working as desired. Based on the recommendation I did not price shop them and just sent the instruments to them. After initial inspection, they will provide a cost estimate. Evidently they work on instruments for a wide variety of vehicles.

They do have a long lead time. The Corvair instruments took about 14 weeks to be returned, so if timing is critical, they may not be the best choice.

You're not still using PIP are you? If so, try using the Upload Image link in the lower left corner of the posting box.
