Fiero does not start (Page 1/1)

84 Fiero
When i turn the key it makes a winding sound in the back area.
then i step the clutch and turn the car on.

But now it doesnt make that winding sound.
It wants to start but doesnt. it just cranks like it normally would but nothing.

i got it to start twice but then it just turned off right away.

what could be the problem???

Fuel pump is out. Gonna have to drop the tank to replace it. Luckily its a small tank.
Check the fuse first!
Could also be the relay.

always check fuel pressure before doing anything like dropping the tank. It saves a lot of labor.

i tried again today.
i heard the winding noise and it turned on.
but i noticed a tinging or ringing or rattling infrequently from where the winding sound comes from.
could something be loose?
what could it be?

also i remember the day before this started i was a light where i accidently hard redlined the first gear, just before i got home. i didnt like the sound of it.
what could happen if you hard redline the first gear??

Could be something as simple as not enough gas in the tank. (Yes, the fuel pump will sound different when the tank is getting empty and the pump is sucking air.)

Countless Fiero owners have been fooled by very inaccurate fuel level senders/gauges.

You might reach 20 MPH.
