Hey guys, I'm trying to put my door skins back on, but I'm having a real hard time attaching the rods to the door skin. I can't seem to get the connection points close enough to the rods while my hand is back there. Any suggestions?
Thanks, Dave

Are your trying to do it from the inside or outside of the door? Your picture looks like the inside door panel is still attached. If so, take the panel off and try. It's tight but I was able to replace lock cylinders and door handles. BTW, a good pair of snug fitting mechanic's gloves will save the back of your hands from scrapes and scratches. ------------------ Mike in Sydney

I'm doing it from the outside. I haven't touched the inside door panel at all, but I'll give it a shot if I can't get it tomorrow.
Thanks, Dave

On the outer door skin there should be only one actuator rod to attach and that is for the lock cylinder. You put the top of the skin in the window channel groove then from underneath look up and place the lock rod in the cylinder arm. It shouldn't be hard to do. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. Actually, there are two, one for the lock and one for the door handle. I know where/how to connect them but I can't seem to get the panel close enough to the rods with my hand in there. I tried hanging the panel like you mentioned, but I was worried that I would crack it if I pulled it out too far. I know it seems like something simple, but I'm having a hard time for some reason.

This will be super easy if you remove the door card.

Agreed, I was trying not to take the inside of the door apart, but it looks like I'll have to. Thanks

Really simple once you take the inner upholstery panel off. Just be careful popping out the retainer clips. 30 year old fiber board tends to be flaky.
