How much grease when you are adding to a cleaned joint that currently has no grease?
I have heard from a few sources that the outer CV joint needs different grease than the Inner, due to being different type bearings. True?
What do you use, etc?
I see Redline makes a full synthetic... "CV-2"

I see some grease packets (that come with replacement boots) are 3oz, some are 4oz, and some containers are 13 or 14 oz.

⚠️ Use any "standard" grease there can have same problem w/ brake work... Boots will fail because most oil/grease doesn't like plastic and rubber parts.
"The Grease" for inner and outer is same, or about same, far as I've seen in the aftermarket. A silver gray to Drk Gray grease. GM put a "white grease" in many old boot kits like PN 7844068.
But some axle sets may need different greases for inner and outer. Or maybe grease pack just has more. Example: https://www.usaspareparts.c...-gm-acdelco/106.html 7844068 - LUBRICANT KIT,FRT WHL DRVCV JT(OUTBOARD) 7844069 - GREASE KIT,FRT WHL DR (IN) = inboard I think and bit more grease But every boot kit sold by X has same grease in them. IOW Moog boot kits for cars has same 4oz grease pack.
Many boot kits include GM ones have 3 to 4 oz of grease and is a lot of the stuff. Bigger packs are likely for fixing multiple joints or very big joints.
And like Brake and Wheel Bearing Greases, normally doesn't move much or at all. Grease in the boots basically stay in the boots but does have a job... boot can "pinch" fairly tightly when you turn and grease helps when that happens plus this grease likely has chemicals to help boots last longer even w/o that.
Note that Most to all FSM doesn't say amount of grease. They say things like put ~ ½ of the pack in the joint and rest in boot. But You Don't want them full or close to full of grease either. Filling and grease get hot then basic Hydro will make them leak if you're lucky. Can blow out whatever is weakest including thru the boot itself. Related issue: Many have Front Wheel Bearings that have grease leaking from back front or both or even caps/cups pushed off because of filling the whole space w/ grease and/or using wrong grease.
CRC and others make CV grease in different sizes as a standalone product.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)
