I have an 88 GT. I think the quarter windows are original. They are generally in very good condition with no major cracks or defects. There appears to be some blotches on the clear section. I took some plastic polish to try and remove them but I learned the blotches got bigger. I can also feel with fingernail that the blotch is indeed at a lower level. When I drag my fingernail from the center of the blotches to the edge, my fingernail actually catches the edge of what appears to be some kind of outer coating layer. This happens on both the inside and outside. It seems like the window is coated with something and the blotches is actually that coating being removed from the lexan.
The black section with "GT" has not blotches or issues.
1) Has anyone seen this? 2) Are these coated with something.? 3) Is it safe to sand off the coating and polish it?

It sounds like your quarter windows are de-laminating. They are 30+ years old so you can't expect miracles. It may be time to purchase a premium quarter window set from the Fiero Store. They are excellent and have the same contour as the originals. They are very very close to the OEM units and fit perfectly. . ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite.
