Recently bought a 86 Fiero GT. Has Link Racing power steering on it but no pump. Anyone know what pump was used for that setup? I either need to put a pump on it or if any interest to anyone sell what’s there and go back to stock setup.

I believe that the link power steering system was the same one used on the Zimmer Quicksilver , the largest car ever built on a Fiero chassis. . You may be able to get that system working by using a power steering pump and bracket off of another GM vehicle that had the 2.8L , 3.1L or 3.4L P/R V6 engine in it. While I dislike power steering on a Fiero there seem to be many guys here that like it. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. I'm not familiar with the Link or what was used on the Quicksilver. I used a C4 Corvette on mine purely for the faster ratio. If this is the same ratio as the stock manual rack I don't see the purpose for it. I ran the hydraulic lines under the car next to the coolant pipes and it was a hassle! Worth it for quicker steering, tho.
Are there hydraulic lines already under the car?[This message has been edited by sspeedstreet (edited 06-18-2020).]

Much better feel from an unassisted system. Unless you are handicapped or just don't care about throwing the car around, keep the manual steering.

Yes lines are already there . Everything is there except the pump. It’s like pump went bad and they removed it and never installed a new one?

I would rather have manual steering. But this is all on the car already. Just don’t want to spend the money at the moment to convert it back. Lol. Just wanna drive it for a bit before tear it apart for engine swap. I did take it a quick spin this evening and diving isn’t horrible how it is now. Power rack with no fluid definitely harder than a manual rack but not too horrible

Sounds like everything is in tack except a pump. Pickup a used EHPS pump and call it a day. It's all electric so no need to adapt it to your engine.

the original kit used a power steering pump from a Pontiac T-1000.
