I have an original Mint Condition 1988 Mera with 17" Mile Miglia Wheels and wheel spacers. The car does not shimmy and does track straight and if fine on a perfectly paved road. However, it is no longer fun to drive on NY roads. The short springs are causing the suspension to hit the bump stops. Any imperfection in the road and it feels as if the car is slamming into the suspension.
At a recent Fiero Club show they suggested I switch to stock springs and a drop spindle. Does anyone have a set of front stock springs for a 1988 or know where I can get them? I was told to reach out or ask for Larry Hubert. If someone has his number or email please let me know. I am told he has numerous parts available. Next issue is where can I get a set of drop spindles and or can I use drop ball joints? Rodney Dickman has 1" and 1/2 " drop ball joints. Please note I am not a kid. I don't drive crazy and am not taking this to a track or taking on ramps at 90 MPH. I want to go to a car show, out to dinner or an occasional trip without feeling like I am in a milkshake machine. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated greatly. I have a custom suspension shop ready to do the work opnce I secure the parts needed. It also needs sway bar links and toe link bushings. Thank you. JR

You can probably see a significant improvement in your ride quality if you trim the front bump stops and shim the bottom of your front shocks. Both are DIY type projects that are easy to do and will only cost a little time and a few bucks for some longer bolts.
