V6 Battery Wiring ('88 GT), Please Check My Work (Page 1/1)

G, Morning, All,

I THINK I have it figured out. Please review and comment/correct as required!

The Positive battery terminal has two wires attached:

One very heavy wire goes to the Starting Circuit and one smaller wire (I am using 18 AWG silicone insulated high flex stranded wire) goes to the Power Distribution Block below the C500 connector.

The Negative battery terminal has three wires attached:

One very heavy wire goes to the Starting Circuit, one smaller wire (I am using 18 AWG silicone insulated high flex stranded wire) goes to a stud on the engine (but NOT on the water pump), and another goes to chassis ground (I am using a bolt on the shock tower.

Wire lengths will be as short as possible while allowing for engine movement and avoidance of moving parts/belts and exhaust system.

I THINK that is it.

Please review!

TIA

The heavy black cable from the battery negative goes to the head, near the passenger side hinge box.

It does NOT attach to the starter.

One of the smaller black wires from the negative battery terminal goes to a bolt on the spaceframe below the battery.
Use the other small black wire to go to the hinge box.....FYI, the OEM setup did not have two smaller grounds, only one.

Don't use the top of the strut tower, it's unsightly!

Thank you. That helps. I am not really concerned about either of the heavy leads, those wires have only been unhooked at the battery end and pretty obvious, even for me! Connection to the strut is awfully convenient since the stud to mount to is so close and......

Anyway, thanks again!
