Do not use LED's for the side marker lights.
So, I was stubborn (slightly stupid) and did not take The Ogres advise about not using LED's for exterior lighting. As such, I bought some red and amber LED's for the side markers on my 87. Probably been 4-5 years. Anyway, a while back I discovered that neither front side marker would blink unless the headlights/running lamps were on. Assuming it was bad wiring, bad ground, bad switch, bad something other than the LED's, I ignored it. Today I decided to diagnose this issue and discovered that problem was the stupid LED's! I'm guessing that because power can only flow one direction through an LED, but for the side markers to work/blink both with the running lights on or off...maybe power has to be able to flow through going either direction? I dunno, I put regular 194 bulbs back in and now everything is working normally.
Sorry Mr. Ogre, next time i'll listen

While I say that for many reason like all are illegal... Rear Red sides never blink. Fiero and others Front sides do blink.
You didn't read my cave for LED pages? Yes, most are polarize and won't work for front markers w/o extra work and parts installed. IOW you have polarize ones and... Install them so light w/ Parking Light might seem to work but only w/ PL on. Install them so light w/ TL might seem to work but only w/ PL off.
Front bulbs often have problems even then before trying "Switchbacks" crap. Worse if tried "Canbus" leds because a resistor for this "feature" often fries and can fry other things too.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. You are correct...I did NOT read about LED's in the Cave. But when I talked about it here in the general forum, you specifically said NOT to do it lol. But some of us Italians are a little too stubborn for our own good. I knew from past experience working with LED's that they're polarized, but I did not know how the front side markers were wired. I guess I learned two new things about my Fiero.
