HVAC Blend/Mode/Defroster Door Seals (Page 1/1)

I have my dash out for an interior refresh. I noticed that some of the doors in the HVAC ducting look to have a foam gasket secured to the top that are not in the best shape. The larger door has no gasket but from the silhouette left in the rust it looks like it was supposed to have one. Has anyone tried to replace these seals? All the doors appear to be riveted to their hinges so I was considering just coating them in place with something brush-on and rubberized.

Think door shown is recycle/fresh air door.
Both doors get dirt and wet air driving in rail/snow even tho is before AC/heater parts.

Foam is a "seal" and likely a minor anti-noise item.

Could likely fix this but watch whatever won't stick door to plastic when "closed" for weeks to months.
Many "rubberize" coatings and some "paints" can stick when two parts push together. Many "dry out" in minutes to hours but take days or longer to "cure" fully and won't react.

Maybe a thin foam and spray glue to attach to the door will closest to OE foam. The spray glue that work w/ headliner fabric should be good. Is one of 3M products.
But foam and "dirt" it holds is likely part of the rust there.

⚠️Watch sanding of doors. Maybe Galvanize and breathing zinc from sanding, welding, etc. is bad.
