Help with engine (Page 1/1)

Ok so I have a freshly built 3.4 pr. ran fine after build, had a chip made put it in the ecm, car set off code 33 and ran rich, black smoke, assumed chip was **** ! put the factory chip back in, ran rich still code 33 and would run at idle 900 but when I drove it it would die out at a stop light, was boggy up t0 2500 rpm then after that point felt ok.

let it sit, reset ecm, changed MAP and o2 sensor. now no code but feels like its flooding out wont start, lots of gas and feel like only half the cylinders are firing.

haven't touched it since last weekend, planning on revisiting it again this weekend. any thoughts? aside from telling me I should have left it alone! lol oh and I did a pressure test, all is good with the new injectors, pressure holds at 43 psi with key turned activating pump. no gradual drop.

Jeff arent you putting bigger injectors in it? Would that make a significant difference for you? curious if there will be any improvement.

no marus the correct 17lb injectors are in the car, that's not the issue.

What happens with the old chip in it?

You most likely have a leaky injector or cold start injector. Pull them out and test them. Also there are new fuel injectors put out by the Chinese Communists.called Mostplus brand. Not only is the flow pattern out of wack, they do not flow accurately and sometimes don't work at all. You can purchase a set of 8 for $49.00. Thats roughly $7 per injector for pure worthless garbage. Also counterfeit "Bosch Injectors" are being sold on eBay. for the real thing. You can tell by the double slots for the injector clips. Don't get ripped off.

But I’m not losing pressure on my pressure test? Which would suggest leaky injectors. Oh and my injectors are new not Chinese

OK next test. Check the IAT sensor and MAP sensor. Could be a bad connector

I know for fact that the injectors were fixed when the engine was swapped in. Not an issue. Interesting on the counterfit Bosch injectors. I will stay with Rockauto good to know.
