While removing the editorials from my '86 GT today, I discovered that the driver's side A-pillar portion of the roof skin was loose. I ran to my Chilton's manual to see how it's supposed to be secured, only to be disappointed again. Such incomplete information makes some repairs so much more difficult than they have to be. Anyway, if I hold down the portion of the skin that runs under the fender, the whole pillar skin feels secure like the other side. How far apart am I going to have to tear the front left corner to get this right? Thanks in advance - Chris

You may need to remove the plastic panel from under the wiper blades to access the mounting points. Number 3 in the picture shows the 2 screws.

Here's a link to my Dropbox with the 1986 factory service manual for you to download.
When you click the link, click the bottom of the popup box "No thanks, continue to view". Then use the download button on the upper right corner. https://www.dropbox.com/s/e...vice-manual.pdf?dl=0[This message has been edited by IMSA GT (edited 05-08-2020).]

Thanks, IMSAGT. First, a correction - in the original post, "editorials" should have been " driprails". I hate the word-guess feature on my tablet when I'm not paying attention. Now, for more important things - upon removing the wiper arms and cowl shroud, I was relieved to not find any breaks in the body panel. However, when I pushed on the windshield molding (it's working its way out), the panel on the A-pillar immediately stiffened up. The molding is going to be replaced as part of the repaint, so, problem solved! Thanks again for the link to the FSM. I'm certain I will be downloading it soon...
