Hey guys, I'm looking at these tires https://www.jegs.com/i/Mick...on/672/3020/10002/-1 for my l67 swapped GT. I've got 16" wheels with street tires, but I'm looking for something to run at the track while still looking somewhat stock. I didn't want to go with a full slick per say, but it's hard to find a decent street tire that will fit that rim. Has anyone run this combo before? Is it overkill? I've had a few drag cars in the past, this is my first swapped fiero though so I'm not exactly sure how much tire I'll need.

You can always go with a BF Goodrich 245/60/14

I wouldn't want to put that wide of a tire on a 6" wide rim, the 8.5" or a 225 is probably the widest I'd go

Then you completely lost me on this thread. Your title is talking about a 8.5 wide, 14" wheel then you mention a 16 inch wheel with street tires so I guess I don't know what you are asking for.

Sidewall height on the MT would definitely help off of the line, compared to a 60 series tire, and help minimize the shock loading on the drivetrain.

Oops, I ended up having to type the post twice due to an issue with my password. When I typed it that second time I left out the part about how I have two sets of rims. The 16" have rims have new-ish street tires. I also have a set of 14x6 wheels that have junk tires on them now. I'm thinking of mounting slicks on two of those 14x6 rims so I can easily swap wheels for the track.

Just realized the ones I linked above require a tube, which adds quite a bit of cost.
Now I think I am leaning towards this tire, just not sure if it's too wide to fit the car.
Waht do you guys think?

Good choice.
Better fit on the wheel, still plenty of width, and high wrinkle sidewall design.

You don't think I'll be too wide? I have factory suspension in the rear, if needed I may go coil overs, but I'd rather not for the time being

You will have plenty of clearance.
