Still stumpe 2006 3800 swap (Page 1/1)
Fieroking APR 24, 05:13 PM
I have posted about the problem with this swap. It is down to this I can pull the Battery Fuse for a minute and the engine starts and runs, shut it off and it won't start (just cranks). Pull the battery fuse for a minute and it starts and runs. At the moment I built a mini harness from the battery fuse to a switch so I don't have to keep pulling the fuse.

Does anyone have any Ideas on what is wrong?

Joe, it sounds like the VATS function has not been properly disabled in the program. If you keep disconnecting power, the PCM resets and doesn't have a chance for the fuel trims to stabilize. If you are doing you own programming I can send you a list of all of the associated DTC's that must be disabled in addition to shuting off the VAT's switching. PCM year????

The PCM is a2006 Grand Prix 3800. I have been through the DTC's and turned off everything connected to the VATS that I could fine.

The Engine is from a 07 Buick Lucerne Wiring harness and PCM from a 06 Pontiac Grand Prix.

1. Set the VATS value to "none"
2. Set DTC P1626 to "3 - No Error Reported"
3. Set DTC P1629 to "3 - No Error Reported"

Additionally set
4. Set DTC P1630 to "3 - No Error Reported"
5. Set DTC P1631 to "3 - No Error Reported"

Thanks
Joe

Did you do a "write entire" after making the VATS change?
