Any problem starting the car without dash wiring connected? I can easily plug the battery light circuit back in for the alternator just not sure the ECM is going to like it.

It's not a problem to do that.
The ECM doesn't communicate with the dash, other than the upshift light or the SES light.
Be sure the dash plugs are not touching metal....
