getrag 282 stuck in reverse and noisy (Page 1/3)

Hey this isn't actually a fiero but you guys will know more about the transmission than the Grandprix forum. I installed a getrag 282 from an 89 Grand Prix into my 2006 Supercharged 3800 Grand prix. It uses hydraulics, so I bought a new slave and clutch master cylinder, along with a Spec Stage 2plus clutch, and had a camaro flywheel ground down to .84". Problem now is that its in the car it won't shift at all, running or not it feels like its just getting close to engaging but won't. I could manually shift it on the bench when it was outta the car. When I start the car the wheels turn backwards really slowly(its on jack stands). AAAnd I can hear a knocking sound coming from the transmission that goes away if I push the clutch pedal in a little bit. If I push the clutch in all the way I can feel it disengage and the wheels stop turning backwords. This is my first time working on a manual transmission, installing a clutch etc. The transmission is from a junkyard, I bought from somone else that pulled it.
I even went as far as installing Rodneys dickmans aftermarket input bearing since you can't get them anymore, and I didn't want to ever have to pull the trans out, at least for a long while. I also couldve got water in it when pressure washing it.

Why cant I change gears?
why is it knocking with the clutch all the way out
could be stuck in reverse?

Thanks

Maybe clearances aren't enough.

Dang, I should've done more research on spec clutches. The last thing I wanted to do is pull the trans at this point, its already been about a 9 month project where I work so much plus kids. Seems like I have to though at this point. Hopefully I can figure out why it can't be shifted. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up when I split the case to install Rodney Dickmans input bearing kit. It's weird that the shifter cables appear to be doing their job, but the trans seems stuck in reverse. The shifter feels like its in neutral but the axles rotate backwords when I start the car.

Put the wheels on the ground.

Wish I would’ve put the wheels I the ground, probably wasn’t stuck in reverse, they probably weren’t spinning as fast as if it were engaged, I didn’t wanna run it long with the knocking.
Anyways I just got done pulling the transmission out the fender well after lowering the cradle etc. there are definitely marks on outer most edge of the pressure plate. Not sure what I’m gonna do, I’ll try n post pics. Sorry I almost never post on any forums, I can usually find a thread that answers my question.

Any marks in the bellhousing where it's been rubbing? It's at .840" thickness now?

Your best best it to take the flywheel off and have a bit more taken off.

Yes .84 thickness now. Looks like it was hitting the bolt

Can see any interference anywhere else. And it makes sense because barely pushing in the clutch pedal at all would make the knocking go away.

Is it a problem that one of the two throwout arms can occasionally catch on this little notch, or is that where it was designed to stop but the tip of my arm wore off so it can return further than needed?

This is a later design FWD Getrag 282.
Fiero Getrags have that arm outside the bellhousing so would not be hitting there.

Looks like all you need is a bolt with a thinner head.

The arm won't go that far back when assembled (TO bearing on there) and slave cylinder is installed.
