Slow starter from heat can be the starter or other things.
So you protect the starter just how? Because that done wrong won't help. Many wrap the starter w/ insulation but isn't a good idea. Heat Shields can be better but have rules to use them.
Iffy Battery and/or battery cables won't help either. Buy real ACDelco cables not knockoffs w/ lead battery end terminals for batteries w/ side terminals.
Replacing starters etc from Ebay and others is good way to get crap parts that die fast too.
Installing starters w/o proper shimming can kill them w/o making starter noise etc. See my Cave, Starter
If have clutch problems may heat the flywheel cause starter problems.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)

i didnt put back the heat protector on the new starter cause it was working perfecly even when warm
but the clutch you talking about could be that cause lately have been feeling some vibration for 5 seconde every few seconde ... its sounds like a fan touching something but there no fan in the rear so .... could be the clutch you thing ?

clutch slipping heat the FW, disk and pressure plate. people leaving foot on pedal etc can kill them for this.
Look for others before worrying about clutches.

likely No but measure at starter isn't best test. Cables or battery has problem(s). Sometime mounting hardware maybe iffy too.
Auto parts store and many online like RA have cable lengths.
Starter may also have problem running w/ low volts. See my Cave, Electric Motors
Have battery tested. Quick test read volts on battery before start to make sure battery is full charge, then during and after cranking. See my Cave, Battery Example: Battery w/ bad cell can be 12v then drop < 11v very fast.
Then measure volts each end of a cable. Best at battery lead terminal to starter and starter solenoid terminal/body depending what cable. Should not see > 1v when cranking search voltage drop test

Perhaps so but is the BMW trying to turn over a 350 TPI also or something less? You should check the wire gauge of those cables or you may be facing this situation again.

well happen again today with brand new starter ... do you think the starter could miss some ground connection i mean the starter is mounted on a aluminium adapter plate so the starter is not very much touching any metal from engine ecxept the flywheel when it reach ?[This message has been edited by moi-maxim (edited 04-11-2020).]
