Electrical Fan Wiring - 1984 SE w/ A/C, Incorrect Fan (Page 1/1)

My 1984 Fiero with A/C has a single speed radiator fan that the previous owner has wired into the stock harness. They have wired it so that the radiator fan turns on when the A/C is turned on, but the fan will not turn on when the engine gets hot. I have put a new switch (lowspeed from Rodney Dickmans, if I'm spelling that right.) And have the switch spliced with the white/green wire.

I'm assuming, since the A/C turns on the fan that the relay is good. This being a single speed fan installed, how can I properly wire this fan to work with the 2 speed system so that it will work properly?

Any tests a can do to confirm the wiring from the engine to the relay is good? I want to cover all the bases.

Thanks.

Does the fan have the resistor on it?
That's what drops the voltage for low speed operation.

Here are the wiring diagrams.
