Rear Hub Seal depth (Page 1/1)

I am ready to replace my axle bearing- But I am getting conflicting info on how deep to drive the axle seal into the knuckle; The instruction sheet that came with the AC/Delco bearing states 20.5 to 21 mm deep while the measurement I took on my 88 knuckle seal put it at 25 mm...If I set it at 21 mm it would be way inside from the inner mounting surface.

Also, since I took the Knuckle off (I had other things I was doing anyway) Shouldn't I be able to drive the bearing in from the inside? (Rather than driving it all the way thru the knuckle from the outside to the inside edge?

I am fully aware that sometimes the "Common-sense" approach is not the right way.....SO I wanna hear from the Fiero experts...Please!

Thanks for any assist!
