Welcome to the Forum!

New cables need adjustment. Here is one thread with instructions.

With the cables detached from the transmission, is it possible to move the shifter mechanism on the transmission?

Yes

With the cables detached from the transmission, does the shift lever in the console have full range of motion?
Does it feel sloppy?

the shifter feel sloppy i thing i need to rebuilt the shifter bushing and stuff could that be the problem

With nothing on the transmission end of the cables, it will move very freely.
Slop in the gear shift mechanism should NOT be confused with free movement.
