I read a posting by Raydar that the coolant passages o the 4.1 intake don't align properly with the 4.5 and 4.9. So does the 4.1 Allante have any value? If so, what might it be worth in USD? And is there a remedy?

Does the 4.1 have smaller valves than the 4.9? Use the Allante heads on a 4.9 shortblock?

Not sure. I've got a 4.5 in an 85 though, and don't know the answer there yet either.

A quick check at rockauto.com shows the intake and exhaust valves being the same size. the 4.9 shows a larger valve so can it be assumed the heads are probably similar enough and that the 4.1 Allante intake might fit the 4.5? What might the value of the setup be? And would it require the ECU or could my currently utilized GM truck ECU be programmed to work? That's what is operating the 4.5 now.[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 01-06-2020).]

I'm running an 89 Allante intake on a 92 4.9 - I don't know if that matters...

The 4.1 was throttle body injected, not port injected as was the 4.9.
Perhaps John 4.9 would know the value, or have a use for it as he may be able to use it in a carburated application.
As to value, maybe $10-$20......

You got me for a minute oldjoedad. I'm asking about an Allante intake setup. Eight long tube intake runners. There are fuel rails on each side of the intake with 4 injectors per side. It's from a 4.1 car onto a tb injected 4.5.
What's the approx value? (EDIT to add that they're still sold on ebay) Has anyone used it on the 4.5? (EDIT to add that the lower intake should fit the 4.5, yes?) Which ECU is needed? My 4.5 uses one from a GM truck and can it be flashed to run the Allante setup (were they batch fired?)?[This message has been edited by sourmash (edited 01-06-2020).]

Was it worth the effort? Which ECU?

92 4.9 ECU with alternator bracket modification ... as for if it was worth it? I seemed to make 175 untuned RWHP running super rich. I've been waiting to fix an engine code so that I can actually tune it. I've seen alot of other swaps with the stock intake making less power. I've switched to E85 to "fix" my rich condition and now it has lots more top end but I think it's lean down low now. No dyno on E85 yet.[This message has been edited by lou_dias (edited 01-06-2020).]

Intake an exhaust the same size? No wonder it was a turd.
Here's what RockAuto has to say about intake manifold gaskets 1988 Allante: 4.1 1989 Allante: 4.5
code:
Narrower end coolant holes Fel-Pro MS94548 Allante 4.5 1989-1992 Mahle MS15667 Allante 1987-1992 (Catalog Error) Fel-Pro MS94116 ElDorado 4.5 1988-1989 Fel-Pro MS945481 ElDorado 4.5/9 1990-1993
Wider end coolant holes Fel-Pro MS913911 ElDorado 4.1 1982-1987
So from looking at the gaskets, the odd engine out is the '82-'87 TBI 4.1, and any Allante intake manifold *should* be compatible with all 4.5 and 4.9 cylinder heads.
*BE WARNED*: I am a random dude looking at pictures on the internet. The real world may be different and this advice may be worth exactly what you paid for it.[This message has been edited by Will (edited 01-07-2020).]
