The 3rd brake light in my GT stopped lighting I first thought that it was the light bulb so I replaced with a new one (type 889) but this has not worked. Any ideas as where or how I should proceed? I don't have a mechanic that I could trust most mechanics haven't even seen one Fiero let along worked on one . Please help and Happy New Year to all. ------------------ Emilio

The 3rd brake light gets power from the STOP/HAZ fuse. This fus also supplies power to the regular brake lights. If your regular brake lights work, it is NOT the fuse.
If neither sets of lights work, it could be the fuse, or the brake light switch. The fuse may be be blown, or the brake light switch may just be out of adjustment. The switch could be bad, but thats doubtful.
Check to see what lights in the rear of the car are working, let us know, we will help.

Thanks for your help, the regular brake lights work the only one not working is the 3rd b. light could it be a bad new light bulb? I will take it out and check it, the old bulb was bad cause it was smoked inside.

Clean the socket well, spray with electrical cleaner. Use test light in socket to check for power...

Before putting it back together, have someone push the pedal while you try wiggling the bulb just to see if there is a bad connection....

what year? because 88 High Brake is wired different.
older years have blue wire and brake pedal switch pin just for HB light. Very possible have a iffy pedal switch. Maybe possible have bad connection(s) under dash but you have hard time to see w/o pulling D-side speaker and/or crawl under to access C201 and C305 con boxes. Rarely some idiot cut them but does happen.
Test light or Volt meter @ high brake socket check blue wire w/ brake pedal push for power. ground test unit to frame not other wire. check black wire for ground. Get "12v" for test light anywhere else if above fails.
Test light should be bright if using "12v" bulb, Volts should be near same Volts tested @ the battery, for both tests.
HB and other sockets rarely go bad w/o help like fools stuffing in probes/wires and spread/bend the metal part.
If bad switch... Might have problems getting new pedal switch(es) because many are hard to find. Several types depending exactly what options the car is built w/. IOW Is Not a universal part.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should. (Jurassic Park)

The brake switch is easy to disassemble and clean, if it is not working properly. Very simple mechanism to repair.
