Need recommendations (Page 1/1)

Alcon, just bought 1988 GT with only 24lk on it. Drove it 350 miles home. No issues. Was told all fluids changed in the last year. Found air filter pretty cruddy. Appeared to the original. Replaced air filter and fuel filter and running high detergent fuel. What other recommendations does the group have. It will be a daily driver. I appreciate the advice.

Welcome to the Forum! Low mileage has it's own set of problems. Do you know the history of storage? Issues will come up unexpectedly if it is now a daily driver. If it has been stored for more than a year at a time, it should have the coolant flushed and brakes bled...IMHO. There is a good chance that extra crud in the fuel tank is headed for the fuel filter, so I would change that again after a few months.

With only 24k on it, are you sure you want to make it a daily driver? Might want to save the odometer by keeping her for Car Shows and Sunday cruises.

In terms of the maintenance, All rubber parts (belts, hoses) are now suspect with so many years on the clock.

Is likely worse then that... Most of the cooling system is suspect because coolant "wears out" even in parked cars. Don't be shock when water pump seal dies soon etc. Sim for Fuel system parts and old gas.

Tires likely has problems too even if they look "new."

Brakes likely has problems besides iffy rubber parts.

YT $3 Corvette story give an overview of problem of cars park for decades. Most should Not buy a ticket to this raffle unless know what dealing w/ or already have a buyer to sell for more $.

Or search blower resistor fire and select by date for more recent items for this Like http://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/141959.html

Best is to remove the blower to look/clean the box not just clean the resistor.
