Just a guess based on the location, perhaps for the power windows and power mirror switches?

Looked at 87 wiring diagram (only one I have to hand)...
I 'think' the blue and green wires are for the reversing light and the other bunch are for the power mirrors.

The green/blue pair is for the backup light switch for the four speeds in 84-86.
I suspect the other bundle is for power windows and mirrors, but I am not near my FSM.
If you do not have these options on your car, jus tape the ends and forget about it.[This message has been edited by olejoedad (edited 12-25-2019).]

The power window switch connectors are separate from the bundle for the power windows so I don't believe that big bundle of wires are for the windows, only the power mirrors (f you have them).
It's possible someone has swapped a different gearbox in from the original and that now the revering lights might be wired off of a connector on the gearbox so check there before worrying about that connector.
Or maybe someone swapping in a new harness!------------------
