Thoughts?
1st through 4th looks super similar but you have the added gear for economy with the 5 speed. ------------------

I just became aware of an Isuzu that popped behind a 2.8 stroked to 3.1. The 4-speed is the strongest of the two. Both may be weak behind the 3.4 DOHC compared to a Getrag.

The M19 is the smooth case, so it is not a good choice for a stronger engine. What you really should have is the M17 if you are not on the freeway every day.

If you want M19 gearing, stuff it in an M17 case.
If you use the M19 as-is, then you have a transmission rated for 4-cylinder torque, just like the Isuzu, but without the 5th cog.[This message has been edited by pmbrunelle (edited 12-19-2019).]

Had a suzy 5 speed behind my DOHC.
1st to 2nd gear jump was very wide but othe than that it was great, loped along around 2300 rpm at 65 in 5th but would still pull away if I put my foot down without having to drop a gear.
Stood up to the engine fine but I didn't go dropping the clutch either although I did enjoy some 'spirited' driving.------------------
Anything I might say is probably worth what you paid for it, so treat it accordingly!

How do you figure the Muncie is stronger than the Getrag?
I thought that they were in the same category... both being bolted to the same Fiero V6.

The Getrag will push the time intermediate shaft thru the case and into the bellhousing under continued abuse. [This message has been edited by olejoedad (edited 12-20-2019).]
