BEEN HANDED A 1/2 finished 3RD GEN 3800SC to finish. does a 3rd gen with a northstar throttle body USE a MAP sensor, or only the MAF ? thanks

Both. Wire it and run it as a Series 2, use the Series 2 MAP, N* TB and LQ4 MAF. Be careful of minor wiring differences on TPS and MAF, as compared to Series 2 pinouts.

That's what we do. Just like to add that if the 3800SC series III is an auto swap , you will need to use only the 2003 PCM as that is the only series II computer that will shift the later 4T65eHD trans. If its a stick use any series II PCM. Now with the LQ1 or N* TB slight adjustment to the TB table will be required. If you use the early LS1 MAF sensor then the entire MAF table must be imported into the PCM program. Then slight adjustments can be made from there by monitoring the STFT and LTFT Easy to do with HP Tuners editor.
