Indy Water Pump Confusion (Page 1/1) |

I decided to replace the water pump on my Indy. The original pump had a triple pulley on it (no idea why)

So I ordered one on line and it came in like this

The only belt that goes on this is the inner one and it is a V belt. So i figured I just ordered the wrong pump. I ordered one from Rockauto and it came in the same way. What am I missing here. All I need is is one V belt on a deep pulley.

These engines came in a lot of cars with a lot of different pulley configurations, so parts manufacturers sell a universal type. They make a pulley puller for them if you want to install what came off the car, but the old ones typically put up a hell of a fight.

Agreed.
I just checked RockAuto They list a few that come with no pulley at all - you swap your old one on.
Water pump GMB 1301740 comes with TWO 1V Pulleys. One is deep. https://www.rockauto.com/en...0&cc=1249006&jsn=913

The GMB 1301740 is the one I ordered from both places There is no way I'm going to be able to get the old pulley off. You bolt on the pulley (or pulleys) you want on the GMB 1301740. I need to find a single deep pulley that will bolt to it

I expect the 3-pully one worked fine, but looked dumb. I think it's the middle groove you would have used.
An original would look like this.

My Indy has A/C. When I bought a new pump in 2007, it came with correct pressed on 2-groove pulley. Crank - WP - alternator Crank - WP - AC compressor
