Short answer.....no

Is there another source to buy red led lights for our dash's?
Spadesluck DEC 09, 03:39 PM
Amazon, Ebay, SuperBrightLED's.....etc... Take your pic. This is a highly debatable topic because LED's have a potential to induce other problems in our cars (I have them in my car with no problems but your results could be different). If you decide to get them I would purchase them from SuperBrightLED myself. Their LED's are going to be better quality over Ebay stuff.

Thank u for that, what issues tho??? im not aware of any issues with LED's...i have ONE led light for my A/C/ controls and its been great. What issues are ppl reporting???

Most LED's hate Fiero type and other dimmer circuits.
Is same type of problem w/ Home use LED and CFL that most hate dimmers for normal bulbs. Even many claim they are "dimmable" often only work w/ some types of dimmers.

Even if you buy the "best" ones, most still hate OEM dimmers.
If they work often have a very small window between off and on.

Just go buy red 194 bulbs to see if red lights even work in the dash. (Listed as 194R in many stores. quick example: https://www.bulbtown.com/19...EDGE_BASE_p/194r.htm )

Plus many "Fiero type" dimmers have problems too.

LED bulbs can be used in tail lights parking lights , interior lights and the trunk light. For tail lights you will need the electronic flasher. For reasons mentioned above I would not use LED's in the dash as they do not respond well to dimming. Now if your Fiero has an alarm system that triggers on light activation, it may not work with LED's . Those alarm systems typically need to sense a higher current draw to trigger. With LED's the alarm may or may not work. I also do not recommend LED's for the headlights. They burn bright but the quality of those Chinese replacement units is questionable, some providing a pattern all over the place and others having a very short lifespan.

LEDs can work with the stock Fiero dimmer. LEDs are current driven devices, but since a single LED has a forward voltage drop of 1.5 - 2 volts, "12V" LEDs have resistors built into them. These resistors make the LED assembly part of the voltage divider and allow the current through the LED itself to be varied by the changable effective resistance of the dimmer. Here's an 8-second video of my 88 GT's dash:

Stock Fiero Dimmer w/LEDs

I have these LEDs:

Fiero Dash Backlight LEDs
(available in other colors too)

The resultant light is redder than it appears in the video (the ambient light washes it out a bit). They're bright enough that I drive with the dimmer set at about 60%; at 100% they're much too bright for me. I had other LEDs that also dimmed well but weren't bright enough. The dimmer components and contacts must be in good condition but it can be done.

The LED's that you used will certainly work with the Fiero dash light dimmer as those units have a chip set which keeps the current flow constant but if you use a standard 194 equivalent LED plug in without the extra electronic circuit they will not dim. Just thought that this needs clarification.
