Coolant bottle overflowing whith up car on jacks (Page 1/1)

I've got the car up on jacks right now. The back is about a foot higher than the front and I've noticed that the coolant overflow bottle is now overflowing and dripping onto the garage floor.
I've never had this happen before on a Fiero so I'm wondering what's going on. I've replaced the thermostat cap (NOT the radiator cap) thinking air was getting in and because I did notice a drip from there last time I ran the car when it got hot but it still appears to be dripping.
Any thoughts?

you figured it out.....it's the radiator cap. It's either not sealing or the wrong kind.

Likely wrong cap.

Rad cap has been on there a good time and is rarely removed except to fill system and it was new a couple of years ago. T stat cap was replaced recently.
Never had it leak like this before when up on jacks, it was up like this for a year or so, no problem, ran it a bit, back on jacks and now it leaks.
Weird.
Guess it could be the radiator cap after sitting for so long but the leak at the back from the t stat cap when it got hot was just suspicious.
Not saying it's not one or the other cap but it just does not feel like it''s that simple and that there's something else going on.

Just to be safe though I've ordered a new rad cap (gotta love Amazon Prime!) so I'll throw that on an see how that works out.

Thanks for input though.

Coolant has to go through the radiator cap to get to the overflow tank. There is no other way for coolant to flow into the overflow tank. So there has to be something wrong with the radiator cap. Either it's loose, or doesn't hold pressure anymore.

The leak at the thermostat cap is unrelated to the overflow tank.
