Rear caliper leaking (Page 1/1)
Lilchief NOV 11, 01:01 PM
The other day I moved my 88 coupe and the brake pedal went to the floor. Would not pump up either. Luckily I only had to move it 30 yards. I noticed a little bit of fluid on one of the rear wheels. So I checked the master cylinder and the rear resivour was completely dry and the front about half full. I added new dot 3 fluid and they pumped right back up. My question is if the caliper is leaking should I change both calipers or just the one ?

I would do both.
Its a safety thing.
How long was it sitting?

If it is the caliper leaking and both of the calipers are the same age (old), then I would probably replace both as the other one is probably not far behind. If they are relatively new / rebuilt calipers, just replacing one is fine.

Bad news is very likely have to bleed the MC because tank went dry.

You might get luck jacking rear so MC is level but likely need to "Bench bleed."
