I know it's been covered a few times before... I did find a list of interior parts weights on the forum but for the few race cars here... How much weight can you realistically cut by gutting the interior but then adding a roll bar?

Wow That is a lot about 300 lbs of weight reduction - I cannot imagine it getting any lighter unless a tube chassis was made and aluminum engine was used...

Hi, I seem to remember the 12 point cage I purchased from Jegs was about 200 lbs shipping weight. So maybe I'm 100 lbs less being gutted and caged? Cheers, John

What did you gut? It appears you still have your dash and stuff, just your carpet, headliner and console then? Good looking interior otherwise though, very clean!

Hi Blowerwhine, Thanks for the compliment on my interior. Welding and fitting that cage was no easy thing. The dash and tops of the door panels are the only part left of the interior. I was going for the pro street look and still needed some functionality. Dash was gutted no vents a/c or related parts. No stock wiring or headlights. No plastic or trim, single aluminum racing seat. So maybe partially gutted? Cheers, John

Do you still have climate control? How do you defrost your windshield if it's a frosty day?

I had my 85 SE V6 weighed back in 1990 or so on a calibrated truck scale at NAS Alameda- It weighed 2580.....I only have 1) V6, 2) 4spd, 3) WS6- No AC, PW, PDL, PM- Nothing else. Recently (2015) I was able to re-weigh it after having installed an F-Body 3.4, Getrag 5 Spd, 88 rear suspension/subframe and 88 brakes all around, and 86-88 GT rear quarters (But NO ground effects and a base 87-88 nose) I also moved the battery up front which would add the weight of the cables front-to-rear. I did have a small tool box, 1 gallon spare antifreeze, and spare coil and module. It weighed 2640. Without the extraneous stuff or the cables it would probably weigh right at 2600. (By the way, it was 570 on each front wheel and 750 on each rear (I have rear coil-overs so it took a couple of twists on one corner to balance it to this- still I was amazed that it had even weight side-to-side)
I don't remember what the fuel gauge was reading during either scaling.....[This message has been edited by cvxjet (edited 10-16-2019).]
