Going from a 3800 to a 3800sc, whats needed? (Page 1/1)

I currently have a 3800 n/a in my 88gt 5spd now. I'm looking to swap in the supercharged version. Just as a basis, what extra wiring, if any, would be needed for the supercharged engine? Thanks

Without knowing what year/series the two engines are, its hard to be exact.
Basic wiring is the same, but the some of the plugs may be/are different.
MAP sensor is keyed differently as it is a 2 BAR sensor.
MAF may be different.
You may need to do some repinning at the PCM.

You may need a different flywheel or have yours rebalanced.

Current set up is an 04 series2 from a lesabre, fbody flywheel milled down. Looking to pickup a gtp around the 2000 year. I’ve got to drop my cradle to replace the clutch, figured I was this far, might as well change it out lol

If the shortblock is in good shape, you could do a top swap....

I believe that the mileage on the engine will determine if a successful change over to boosted operation can be done. The PCM program will need to be reprogrammed and quite a few parts will need to be changed/added.
