Installing cruise control / wiper lever (Page 1/1)

My replacement Dorman cruise control / wiper lever has arrived.
Attaching the new wire to the old wire with tape seems to be a good way to feed it through the column seems to be the easiest and best way to install it.
For those who have done this, are there any tips for this, and how difficult is it to feed the wire through the steering column?
My Indy Fiero has a tilt column.
Many thanks!

You may have to carefully grind down the epoxy on the plug to have pull thru the column. Sometimes it pulls right back thru, most time it won't. Use a thin but strong wire and take your time. About the time you are ready to take a hammer to the column, it goes thru. Good Idea to disconnect the battery.

pull 2 upper bolts hold the column up. Remove 4 short bolts holding the bracket to column. that should give more access to snake the wire in/out.
Not sure if have to remove turn switch enough to access wire hole behind.
Don't pull old wire out until have attach string to plug. Use the sting to pull in the new wire.
Be note if some fool mess w/ column before these may not help much.
Make sure wire isn't tight anywhere. No slack will wreck it fast. especially where it goes in and thru the top section of column.
