I know its been done before, but I can't seem to find a thread on it. So, does anyone know of a thread or some helpful tips removing a Duke plus tranny from the top? I'm looking specifically because Its preferred to keep the rest of the car in rolling shape so i can pivot it to the back half of the pole barn for some body stuff over the winter.

Engine removal from the top has been done before but I don't believe that its worth the effort. ------------------ " THE BLACK PARALYZER" -87GT 3800SC Series III engine, custom ZZP /Frozen Boost Intercooler setup, 3.4" Pulley, Northstar TB, LS1 MAF, 3" Spintech/Hedman Exhaust, P-log Manifold, Autolite 104's, MSD wires, Custom CAI, 4T65eHD w. custom axles, Champion Radiator, S10 Brake Booster, HP Tuners VCM Suite. In my humble opinion, it is much easier in the long run to go ahead and drop the engine/cradle out from underneath, remove the engine and transaxle from the cradle, and put the cradle back in place. Beware that if you are planning on rolling the car around the shop, the rear axles need to be installed in the rear wheel hubs to keep the rear hub bearings from trying to separate. ------------------ Rod Schneider, Ball Ground, Ga. You can use large bolts/washers/nuts in lieu of the axles to hold the hubs together. Be aware that if you pull it from the top and bump one of the hinge boxes, it is a b!t¢h to get the decklid to align. Drop the cradle....in the long run its much easier.[This message has been edited by olejoedad (edited 09-20-2019).]
