I have a stock radio with the equalizer, volume buttons, sub, and headiner mounted performance sound slider. It seems to automatically seek for new stations when service gets bad and I end up with static and cant tune into a station. Anyone know how to fix this issue or have a spare head unit they want to sell?

This is a photo I found online BTW and it's still installed in my 1986 Fiero SE 2M6 4 speed.

Sounds like the 'seek' or 'scan' button is stuck. Is there something hold them.
Rather than replacing the unit like for like, think about putting in a radio from a early nineties grand prix. AM/FM/CD and you can purchase them converted to accept an external input from am iPhone or iPod, etc. Try ReplacementRadios.com.------------------ Mike in Sydney

Maybe a long shot here. There is a radio static suppressor plate on the underside of your engine deck lid. I had a similar problem. The wire became disconnected. Once fixed my radio worked a lot better...

Could be that... But 30+ year old GM radios can have a lot of problems. Dirty contacts/connectors, Caps "dry up" to 1 or more cracked solder joints anywhere in them. Is likely part of Why ReplacementRadios.com and others stopped carrying most 1980's radios. Even when you get good cores to rebuild, re capping etc eats time/money.------------------ Dr. Ian Malcolm: Yeah, but your scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should.
