Windshield wiper issues (Page 1/1)

My Indy Fiero's wipers failed this weekend.

The came up about 12 inches and stopped. I suspect that it is the wiper switch itself, since the cruise control does not work either. The car only has 12,500 miles on it.

Is there anything else I should be looking at? I thought I should replace the wiper stalk first and see what happens.

My guess would be the wiper pulse board.

I forgot to mention that the washer does not work either. It appears that nothing works from via the stalk.

84 delay module is under dash. Not in motor as rest of Fiero years.
wiper switch is inside of steering column. Lever plastic can break and not turning the switch.

Note Motor Ground is thru 1 mounting ear. If that has issues then fixing delay etc won't last.
Iffy motor and/or wiper transmission can wreck the module too.
Wiper trans is all from motor crank to wiper arms.

I'm betting that it's the switch inside the column. Same thing happened to me. Wipers acting wonky and the washer not working. I changed the delay board and no joy. Traced the problem to the switch. Guess what, the switches aren't available anymore but the wiper switch for an S-10 will work. It's a bear to get to. I had to disassemble the top end of the steering column.

BTW, if it's the washer that not working, you can pick up the washer circuit in the front compartment and install a momentary contact push-button. I had to do that because when I got the annual inspection for registration renewal, the inspector was a bit anal about the washer having to work.
