Timing issue (Page 1/1)

Ive heard multiple very certain opinions that both the 2.8 is an interference engine and a clearance engine. Im looking for the cheaper route to get the old girl going. I can throw in a new 2.8 but if this ones usable id like to fix it.

Heres the chain of events

Car stopped starting. Though it was distributor. Changed it WITHOUT marking it. Brand new distributor top to bottom. Then found out it was the timing chain broke. Replaced its, gears and damper. Engine turns over but won’t start. I believe its too far out of time to start. How can i get it started with both the timing chain being replaced and the distributor having been removed. Atleast to get started to time it.

Side not, several sensor wires were chewed by mice. Ive worked with wiring. Is it safe to solder a few new wires onto simple sensors
